Two global trade events organisers Bologna Fierce and UBM India have come together to conduct Cosmoprof India in September this year. Here is a glimpse into this cosmetics industry targeted exposition.

The Italy-based global exhibition organizer Bologna Fiere and UBM India have joined hands to launch Cosmoprof India, a trade event targeted at the global beauty industry. To be held at the Sahara Star Hotel, Mumbai on September 10th and 11th, 2018, the Cosmoprof India show aims at presenting opportunities to a cross-section of the industry. The target participants of this trade event include brands of finished products in cosmetics and toiletries, hair, nail and accessories, and beauty salons, in addition to companies involved in raw materials and ingredients supply, contract manufacturers, private labels, applicators, and primary and secondary packaging companies.

The India opportunity

So far, Cosmoprof has been conducted world over in cities such as Bologna (Italy), Las Vegas (USA), and Hong Kong (PRC). The show cumulatively attracts over 3.6 lakh professionals and 9,000 companies from around the globe.

With nearly a 60 per cent rise in consumption during the past five years and overall market revenues rising steadily, the Indian market presents a huge opportunity for companies that operate in beauty, cosmetics, cosmeceuticals and personal care products space. The Indian market is expected to reach $20 billion (₹ 1.36 lakh crore, approximately) by 2025. To be hosted as a preview event in the current year, Cosmoprof India will be a reference event for the whole beauty business community in India and abroad, according to a press communique issued by the event organisers.

Key attractions this year

Besides the traditional exposition format, Cosmoprof India will also feature ‘Cosmotalks’, a series of seminars to be delivered by the renowned industry players and experts with topics pertaining to critical challenges faced by the beauty sector. These seminars, according to the organisers, will offer knowledge and insights about trends in the Indian market, the ingredients used by the local players, and industry-specific regulations such as those pertaining to setting up business in India. The event is also expected to have a presence of experts, thought leaders and international influencers at these seminars.

During this exposition, Cosmoprof India will hold an International Buyer Program hosted by Cosmoprof Worldwide – Bologna. The program will consist of direct business to business interactions amongst corporations, distribution houses, purchasers, importers and suppliers from India, United Arab Emirates and South East Asia.

Commenting on the proposed launch of Cosmoprof India preview event,
UBM India managing director Yogesh Mudras says: “We are excited to bring the brand Cosmoprof to India, backed by the immense knowledge and expertise of a coveted international brand like Cosmoprof Worldwide, that so far showcases exclusively in Las Vegas, Bologna (Italy) and Hong Kong — Mumbai is slated to be the fourth city.”

Stating that the current market share for the Indian cosmetics industry stands at $4.6 billion, out of the global market revenues of $274 billion, Mudras adds: “The rising awareness of beauty products, increasing premium on personal grooming, changes in consumption patterns and lifestyles and the improved purchasing power of women, among others, promise exciting times for the personal care industry.”

These factors, according to him, are creating expansive opportunities for the Indian and global players. Growing at a rapid pace of 13 per cent to 18 per cent annually, India’s beauty industry is likely to grow by three times in terms of the total market revenue by 2035, he estimates. This growth rate, according to Mudras, is far higher than the ones exhibited by the US or European markets. “The Cosmoprof brand will bring immense value to beauty and cosmetics professionals in India to reap the benefits of the advantageous market in a structured manner,” he claims.

“Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, the leading B2B format for the development of the beauty sector, continues to increase its internationalization and brand promotion activities in key markets,” says Bologna Fiere Group President Gianpiero Calzolari. “With Cosmoprof India, we are adding a new event to our international platform, facilitating business opportunities for leading international companies.”
